For EMS

EMS knowledge that holds up between recertifications.

Recertification proves the hours. It doesn't prove what's retained. ADVANCE keeps EMT knowledge current with short daily review, scenario questions, practice tests and a training tutor available any hour.

Recertification proves the hours. Not what's retained.

Forgetting starts early. Knowledge can begin to fade soon after a training event, and one completion doesn't ensure lasting recall. Between recertification cycles, the material an EMT uses least is the material most likely to slip.

Review has strong evidence. Spaced repetition and active recall are among the best-supported methods for durable learning, the same approach medical students rely on through Anki. ADVANCE schedules review with SM-2, the family behind Anki's legacy scheduler.

Organized by the NCCP domains

ADVANCE's EMS content for EMTs is organized by the domains of the National Continued Competency Program: airway, respiration and ventilation; cardiovascular; trauma; medical and OB/GYN; and EMS operations. Each member's capability profile reports results by those areas, so a gap in trauma doesn't hide behind strength in airway.

How EMTs train in ADVANCE

  • Recall. Reveal. Rate.

Daily cards: answer from memory, check the answer and the common misconceptions, then rate how well you knew it.

  • Spaced review

Each card comes back before it fades: sooner when it was hard, later once it sticks.

  • Scenario questions

Multiple-choice vignettes put the knowledge into a patient-care scenario, then show what you chose, the correct answer, and why.

  • Quick quizzes to full exams

Quick quizzes, practice tests and full exams, with results that feed your proficiency in each curriculum.

  • A training tutor, any hour

Ask Signal in plain language between calls or on a day off. Read the answers, or hear them aloud at your own speed.

  • Train anywhere

On any phone, tablet or computer: at the station, at home, or on a day off.

EMS CE, kept separate from Fire

Every member's Operational Readiness Profile shows annual continuing-education progress: hours earned against the requirement, with EMS and Fire tracked as two separate totals that are never combined. For dual-role members, neither requirement can hide behind the other. Department training credit is recorded separately from statutory CE awards.

ADVANCE is for training only. Signal is not medical direction; follow your protocols and your medical director. AI can make mistakes. Please don't enter patient information. ADVANCE is not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
